Future Skills Kickstart – Data & Career Lab is a free, live, hands-on intro event for people who want real career leverage, not another motivational speech dressed up as “education.” You’ll get a practical view of how data is actually used in business, what the most common data and business roles really do, and how to build a roadmap to prepare for them. We’ll also do a CV-focused segment with ATS-friendly tips and review principles, so you leave with clearer next steps and stronger positioning.

Event Overview

This session is designed to remove confusion. If you’ve been wondering “Which role fits me?”, “What should I learn first?”, “How do I prove I can do this?”, or “Why is my CV not getting callbacks?” this lab gives you a grounded starting point. You’ll learn how decisions are made in business, how analytics supports those decisions, and how to translate your learning into a roadmap and a CV that makes sense to both recruiters and hiring systems.

What We’ll Cover

1) Data Analytics in the Real Business World

You’ll learn why companies rely on data, what “data-driven” actually means in practice, and where analytics creates value. We’ll break down common business problems (growth, churn, pricing, operations, marketing performance) and show how analytics helps teams make better calls, faster.

2) Popular Roles and What They Actually Do

Job titles are messy. Responsibilities are messier. We’ll clarify what the most common roles typically handle, how they collaborate, and what skills they require. Expect plain-language breakdowns like:

  • Data Analyst: turning raw data into insights and reports people can act on

  • Business Analyst: mapping business needs, defining requirements, making processes measurable

  • Product Analyst: tracking user behavior, testing hypotheses, guiding product decisions

  • BI Analyst: dashboards, KPIs, reporting structures, decision visibility

  • Analytics Engineer (entry perspective): preparing and organizing data for analysis and reporting

  • Junior Data Scientist (reality check edition): modeling basics, experimentation, and where expectations usually go wrong

Then we’ll talk about what “getting ready” realistically looks like: skill priorities, portfolio proof, and common mistakes that slow people down.

3) Roadmap Mock-Up Lab

Instead of giving you a generic checklist, we’ll build a mock roadmap together. You’ll see how to choose one direction, define milestones, and create a weekly structure that prevents tutorial hell. You’ll also get practical tips and shortcuts: what to learn first, what to ignore for now, and how to build momentum with small outputs that compound.

4) CV Lab: ATS-Friendly, Recruiter-Friendly

Your CV is not a diary. It’s a document designed to survive software filters and busy humans. We’ll cover:

  • How ATS systems typically “read” CVs and what breaks them

  • Formatting rules that keep your CV clean, scannable, and parseable

  • What to write when you lack experience: projects, outputs, and proof-based bullets

  • How to translate skills into impact statements (not just tool lists)

You’ll also see CV review principles you can apply immediately to your own CV.

Why You Should Join

Because most people try to “learn data” with no target role, no plan, and no proof, then wonder why nothing changes. This event gives you clarity on roles, a realistic preparation path, and practical CV guidance. You’ll leave knowing what to do next, and why.

What You’ll Gain

  • A clear understanding of how data analytics creates value in business environments

  • A realistic map of popular data & business roles and what they’re responsible for

  • A roadmap structure you can adapt to your goal and schedule

  • ATS-friendly CV rules and examples that improve your odds of getting seen

  • A sharper sense of what “proof” looks like (projects, dashboards, notebooks, short reports)

  • Surprise discounts for Hands-on Mentor products, shared during the event

Who This Is For

  • University students (any grade) who want practical direction and employable skill-building

  • Early-career professionals aiming for data, analytics, product, or business roles

  • Career switchers who need a structured roadmap instead of random courses

  • Professionals who want to upgrade their CV and positioning with clearer proof

Who It’s Not For

  • People hunting for job guarantees or instant transformations

  • People who want passive listening without doing any thinking

  • People who refuse feedback (which is bold, but not useful)

How the Session Feels

Introductory, practical, and structured. You’ll get explanations that don’t drown you in jargon, plus frameworks you can reuse. The goal is simple: leave with clarity, a roadmap draft, and a CV improvement plan you can act on immediately.
